    Default Carrying/owning/transporting a handgun under 21

My stepson wants to be gifted one of his fathers handguns.. He is 20 and in the Army Reserves... Can he carry a handgun in his vehicle if he is going to a gun range to shoot it?? I have found nothing that says he can't.

Yes, to and from a range is an exception. He would be able to go from home to range without stops in between.

To and from the range, yes. That is about the only time. It must be unloaded and in a case
    .

Correct, just like open carry at 28, 38, & 108. What well screw you is not being able to Carry on any form of transportation. Not in a car, not near, not far. Not in a truck, you're out of luck. Not on a pedal bike, which you may not like. Not on a horse, because no LTCF of course. Not in a city of the first class, because you want to protect your ass. Not during a state of emergency, even if you think there's urgency. Within a thousand yards of a school, you'd be a fool.

Personally, I don't know why he needs to be 21 to carry legally. If he enlisted they'd let him carry an actual assault rifle into combat and kill with it at 18.

For the same reason you can not hunt in PA with a semi-automatic rifle... PA is stupid...And he is in the reserves... not active duty..

Guess what, just because he is in the Reserves doesn't mean he won't see action. Reserve Forces get called up to go into harms way a lot now a days.

I'm sure your stepson is the exception to the rule but most 18 year olds are not very mature. And although he gets to carry an assault rifle into combat, he has quite a bit of redundant supervision around him at all times....more so then even At home.

I do not feel he needs to have one until he is 21 and I am sure his mom won't allow him to have it in her house until he is of legal PA age.... But if his father doesn't gift him one, it will not be an issue.... And in case you are wondering, yes I have firearms... And my LTCF..
