Default Smart Gun Vote Set for NJ

The Armatix smart gun is implanted with an electronic chip that allows it to be fired only if the shooter is wearing a watch that communicates with it through a radio signal.

Guns that can be fired only by authorized users could become more prevalent in New Jersey if a bill under consideration works as intended.
The state Senate is set vote on legislation Monday that would require firearms dealers to sell personalized handguns, also known as smart guns, in the same manner as other handguns.

The legislation would repeal parts of an older law that lawmakers say resulted in fewer personalized handguns being sold in New Jersey.
Legislators say the bill could result in less gun violence if firearms can be limited to only authorized users.

Sounds like it passed the Senate and will move to the NJ House.

Does this mean NJ has given up trying to mandate only selling smart guns? After the B.S. that wen't down in California for Armatix to test at OakTree Range, then to be in their sales case for one whole afternoon to shoot the media op for its "release" in an attempt to trigger NJ's law and even questions about if it qualified to get on California's Safe Handgun Roster to be legal to sell... well, I really hoped that would be the last of Armatix.

The fact that they are passing a law to compel FFL's to sell the damn thing should be all anyone needs to know about 'smart' guns.

"smart" and "new joisey" in the same sentence...rather the oxymoron.

I wonder how long it will take hackers to over ride the lockout.

I wonder how long it will take bad guys to figure out a way to jam the signal from the watch to gun so the pistol will not fire.

I think it would be quite easy.

They don't need to be that intelligent

They will just use reliable, traditional guns and, over time, have a statistical advantage over those trying to defend themselves with these newer, "smarter" models.
