    Default Philadelphia LTCF question

    Hi Guys,

New to the forum but i wanted to ask a question about obtaining my LTCF. I hear a lot of complaints about Philly denying people for parking tickets. My question is i'm currently on a payment plan for a couple tickets do you think i will still be denied? i'm not sure if they'll be able to see that i'm on a payment plan or should i just wait until the payment plan is completed?

    Thanks in advance

You should call the Gun Permit Unit and ask, and if you get an answer that doesn't make sense call again the next day. I can guarantee their office has had this scenario before, even if the person answering you hasn't. If you apply and get denied you will have to disclose that denial forever even after you win an appeal.

Thanks for replying greenjohn88 I didn't know if I got denied I would have to always disclose that info. That's a good idea to give them a call and see what they say. I will definitely do that tomorrow and hopefully someone has an answer for me.

While I'm new to this board, that is absolutely absurd to think parking violations would prevent a citizen from lawfully carrying a firearm.

I totally agree. That's just a way for the city to get money. I did speak with the gun unit and they said if your payment plan is current they will not deny you your permit.

You should ask them if they revoke if you get your LTCF and don't keep your payment plan current.

They have no grounds or denying you an LTCF for owing parking tickets, or being delinquent on a payment plan.

That's a good question streaker69. I'm assuming when you come up for renewal they will inquire again and they will know if you still have outstanding tickets. For some reason Philadelphia places it under the character clause and gets away with it or the people don't appeal it. I was having a conversation with a Pa lawyer on YouTube who talks about denials and other things for people in the state of Pa who are trying to get their LTCF and he says the same thing. That should have no bearings on your right to carry, appeal it and get a lawyer.

But once again, their denial is utterly unreasonable as the two are irrelevant to each other, unless of course you have a warrant for your arrest due to the fines. You should need to pay for a lawyer to throw a letter to them (more out of pocket cost) just to get your LTCF. I'm happy I am finally in a state that will issue me a concealed carry permit, but we should not have to jump through hoops to get it. NJ on the other hand is a lost cause.

Amen you are 100% right. The interesting thing about it all are the counties, they do not give a hard time like the city of Philadelphia does.
