    Default Non-resident CCW application questions

    Hi!
I stumbled on your forum today doing some basic searches.

I currently live in Michigan, but was born & raised in Scranton. Five years ago I applied for my PA non-resident CCW in Lackawana county and received it. Two years ago my wife & I stopped into Lackawanna Sheriff office in Scranton and they would not process an application for her because "we don't do that anymore".

I am planning on stopping by Lackawanna Sheriff office while in Scranton on either 8/8 or 8/11 to apply for my renewal and try again to get my wife's application filed. I talked to the Sheriff's office today and they gave me the hours and the fee and said "I can try".

Anyone have any advice should they refuse our applications? Isn't PA a shall issue state?

If Lackawanna county refuses to take/process the applications does anyone know which counties in PA along I81 or I80 would process non-resident applications without giving me a bunch of grief?

    Thanks for any help.

It is only "shall issue" for residents.

Easiest thing for a non-resident to do in most circumstances is just apply via mail with Centre County:

    Painless.

+1 It took less than 2 weeks for Centre Co. to process and return my out of state application.

    Thank you!

If things don't work out when we are in Scranton later this week I will file by mail with Centre county.

Just stop at Bellefonte, PA, it is right off I-80 on your way out with your application filled out and copies of your ID. What's the longest it will take an additional hour?
You could even stop on your way back if Lackawanna Sheriff will not issue.
    Just a thought
