Me too. Just found a real stud appearing on my trail cams the last few days. Guess who took off tomorrow.....The weather looks pretty shitty Friday and Saturday. I may just have to stick it out for this guy though.

Nice job. I have a DMAP for down your way. I am saving it for the last week or perhaps a flintlock / beaver trapping trip after Christmas. I ran into THICK ice last year....We will see what the weather does this year.

Thinking about flintlock too.
It's going to be almost 3 weeks this year IIRC.
I wouldn't care much if i missed rifle altogether.
Regardless anything I kill with it will given away or donated.

I've been blessed by the hunting god's the past few years.

For all you happy venison harvesters, here is a tip from long ago. If you want a really tender venison roast, soak it in milk in the fridge for a couple of days before making it. The lactic acid tenderizes and the milk helps make it moist. First got this tip while living in Germany back in the '60s. It works.

Never heard of that.
I have soaked fish fillets in milk. Never venison.
Gonna try!

I seen, they saw, they won. Just alittle to far out for me to get a shot. I started changing stand locations for rifle season.

Just got up to pee, and five large doe were eating up the back yard! I am not in the country, but it is not far away. They made the neighbors security light come on, so really stood out.
