    Default short short barrel rifle

decided the barrel on my full size uzi sbr was just too long. also decided i have no need for the 16" barrel it came with. also heard of these "fbi" length barrels.
so it was off to the machine shop at work.
only downside is i'm pretty sure the suppressor would be really upset it i put it this barrel.

Can you just change barrel length on an NFA item?

As long as you can return it to the condition listed on the Form 1/Form 4 - yes, you can.

So you could file/get approved for let's say a 12" barrel, and chop it. Then buy another barrel, chop it to 6" and install it (or cut the original to 6" and the new one to 12"), so long as you have another barrel available to take it back to the registered 12"? Had no idea. Interesting.

    Yup
Same principle as the AR system.
Papered as a 10.5" 556, no issues swapping the upper with a 4" 22LR upper.

Brian, what are your concerns with the Mossad and the short barrel?

The UZI 9MM had been my dream gun for as long as I can remember. One day back in the 80's I got my hands on one and my image of it was smashed. It's a iconic gun and I love the compact design, but I just couldn't get past the huge boxy grip and the hard edges found throughout the gun. Still a nice piece though. If you're going to own one, it has to have a short barrel!

the mossad has what appears and feels like a wiper or gasket like something in it that "grips" the barrel.
the short barrel doesn't make it completely through them, if it even makes it to it.

    Gotcha
The feel of a wipe or gasket is neither. It is actually a sleeve built into the can that slips over the barrel to keep the can centered when it is ratcheted on to replace the barrel nut.

If your barrel doesn't reach that sleeve, i wouldnt shoot it with the can on.
