2015/16 Firearm Season Success Thread
Figured I would get this started, took this guy at 8:30 this morning, shooting 12 gauge Remington foster slugs. 45 yards and he dropped on the spot, but needed a followup shot to end it quickly.
Definitely not the biggest deer out there, but obviously he was good enough for me today.Last edited by firebird.77; November 30th, 2015 at 04:43 PM. Reason: Pictures

Re: 2015/16 Firearm Season Success Thread
Tell me about it! It was a short morning hunting today, but that was after dozens and dozens of trips out to the property since June hanging stands, scouting etc. along with many less successful hunts
I'm considering having this deer mounted, if anyone has recommendations for taxidermists in the SEPA region (Bucks/Chester/Montco) I would appreciate any information you have to offer. If you happen to know what someone charges, please PM me if you don't want to post it publicly

Re: 2015/16 Firearm Season Success Thread
Firebird,
Nice buck. I haven't had one come in close enough in archery and haven't seen one in rifle season so far.
I did get a doe in archery and got this gal today with my kids 30-30 loaded with a 170 gr Speer flat nose deep curl bullet over a max charge of IMR4350.
Saw her at 80+ on the crest of a hill and couldn't take that shot. Hoped she would come down on my side. She did but I lost her in the fixed power Bushnell 4X which was put on the rifle used and I had the gun 35 years.
She stopped behind thick cover and only exposed her neck. I never take a neck shot but it was all she was offering at 30 yds.
She dropped on the spot.
That was the first deer I shot with that rifle.
I only saw 4 doe all day and they came past me running flat out. No shot.
Opinions are like anal apertures. They all stink but mine.

Nice going 27hand and A5. Love them old 30-30s, how did the deepcurl hold up 27hand? I use 180 grain 35 caliber deepcurl for my 35 remmy. What ya use on the buck A5?
