Squirrel hunt
Decided to get out in the woods with my 17 hmr and do some squirrel hunting. Only had one shot, but made it count. Dropped it in its tracks. Now I know why head shots with the 17 are recommended. Was a good sized squirrel, still got a decent amount of meat off it for a meal. It's actually frying up as I type this. Was my first squirrel hunt in years and enjoyed the time in the woods. Also had to post up a pic of my marlin xt17 that got its first kill.

Nice!
I think squirrel is one of the best game out there. While day dreaming today in my tree stand I was pondering some squirrel hunting.FUCK BIDEN

Re: Squirrel hunt
We just fried it up. It's been so long since I had squirrel I can't remember. But it was good. I definitely need to get out more often. Was a nice, but cold and windy day in the woods.

Re: Squirrel hunt
I haven't been squirrel hunting enough as it interferes with deer hunting. Tough choices have to be made sometimes...
I always slow cook my squirrels until the meat picks off the bone easily. Then I can make squirrel chili, tacos, quesadillas, or stew. I often vacuum seal the pulled meat so that I can easily incorporate squirrel to just about any dish.

I'll try the crock pot next time. I dont get put on the woods near enough. So, I'll take any chance I can get.

I stared at this thread all day wondering what all the hub-bub was all about and finally clicked on it.
