Excellent encounter today

Was at the check out at the local supermarket. Was OCing a W. German Walther PPK/s. An older woman asks me 'are you licensed to carry?' I smile and answer in the affirmative. She tells me her daughter has a license and doesn't go into the city without it. I smile and say 'I don't go anywhere without it!' she says that very good, and notes in a good spirited way how alert I was, and how she saw how I saw her as she approached at the next register.

I should say, because it's relevant, the woman did not look like she would be supportive of gun rights, but it just goes to show what happens when we judge a book by its cover

These days someone who actually appears alert and engaged in their day DOES stand out. So many people immersed in the wonder of their electronic box. Target rich environment for those who would ply their evil craft. The lady almost had to be someone who is alert herself to be able to pick you out of the crowd.

When I'm out working, whether driving from site to site, or seeing people walk by where I'm working, nearly 100% of pedestrians are seen walking face down and wearing ear buds.

Nearly every single person. The percentage is higher in female pedestrians. Completely unaware of the world around them.

Is it any wonder so many view the world in the same manner?
