Always leave your cell phone off while hunting
I left mine on in case there was an emergency or something. I went to sit on my neighbors property and as soon as I sat down I get a phone call from my father's girlfriend. She told me my father was acting strange. I thought he was having a stroke or something from the way she was acting. I ran back to the house and it turned out my father was just being a smart ass after having a few too many beers. His girlfriend isn't the brightest star in the sky. Anyway I am super pissed that I got disturbed for no reason and ran out of the woods in a panic. I don't even know how she got my number. I am just leaving my phone off from now on. Aside from that I had a good day hunting. I found a great spot in Pike Co. I am going to set up my stand there tomorrow.

I always turn mine off. My wife has a disturbing knack for calling just as the deer show up.

Re: Always leave your cell phone off while hunting
My daughter needed info about something. As I was texting back, 2 deer busted me. I check a text but no longer respond.

You're right. I am glad is was nothing serious. I thought it was when she called me. She asked me if he was diabetic and said he seemed confused. No, he is just a smart ass. She is foreign and must not understand American smart ass behavior. An American women would have just called him a smart ass. In any case I am turning off my phone from now on.

Setting it to vibrate and using text could be a better way to go. Emergency info could be obtained without screwing up your hunt.
Just my opinion. YMMVMy Feedback - http://forum.pafoa.org/showthread.ph...ight=stainless

Re: Always leave your cell phone off while hunting
OP, you are obviously a young man, get smart and download birdsong/cricket sounds for ringtone & text alerts. Turn the volume down and leave the phone turned on in case of an emergency, yours or someone else's. There are no trophies grand enough to make up for knowing that you could have saved a life.
Good luck and safe hunting.

There is no reason to leave a cell phone on (or own one for that matter) unless you want to be relentlessly disturbed.

Re: Always leave your cell phone off while hunting
I have been so guilty of leaving my phone on and missing and disturbing noise level while hunting deer ! The vibrate feature is so minimal on our phones you cant tell they are vibrateing !
