Default What is the Text Limit for a Sig Line?

I know that prior to the forum upgrade there was a limit to the amount of text one could use in a sig line.
Those who were forum contributors ($) were granted more space. When I was a moderator I used to advertise the group shoots by placing an actual clickable banner ad in my sig line, but now I'm limited to a short line of text.

I see others (with no indicator that they are "special people") with what appears to be full paragraphs with spaces between two groups of text even. What gives?

The limit is 1000 characters or 1 line, whichever comes first. Can't explain why some "non-special" folks can exceed that, though.

I recall one longstanding member (Frenchy, I think) saying he never changed his sig line anymore because at one time he was able to include more, either due to past forum limits or past contributor status, and now would have to use a smaller one if he changed it.

So apparently oversize sig lines are grandfathered in, as long as they aren't changed.

    This is correct.

Right now the sig limit is (1) line, up to 90 characters, for non-subscription/staff.

Why does the control panel message (when you exceed the limit) say it's 1000 characters/1 line?

I donno.. The admin panel is set to allowing 1 line with a 90 character wrap.

The file upload panel once said 2MB for the limit, but the actual is, and was, 1MB.
