    Default Is this common?

If you do not have a gun lock when transferring a firearm, you will be charged $3.00 on top of the transfer fee. If you bring a lock, you will NOT be charged.

I discovered a gun shop that I didn't know existed.. I was on the way to work when I saw the sign.. After work, stopped in..

Nice little place, decent selection, great service..(Owner was knowledgeable, blah blah)

I bought a t-shirt, (only had a few bucks on me)..

Got home, checked the website and saw this 🔝... Is this charge common??

I have purchased and transferred more than a few handguns, and have never seen this..

The website is unclear.. One page seems to say this is for out of state transfers, another part of the site leads me to believe this is for every transfer..

I won't out the shop, (because I could be wrong)..

    Anyone pay this??

Never saw it before. I've transferred many handguns before in many different shops. I'm guessing this is in the NE part of the state?

I've seen this. Most shops don't sweat it. I have 2-3 cable locks sitting around I never use. So I would just take one.

The 3 dollar cheap lock gun store mandate was after the legislative requirement that basically mandated that all handguns come with a lock. There was a lot of old stock around that were not shipped from the factory with a lock, so to follow the letter of the law, the gun store inventoried a bunch of mickey mouse locks that appeared to have come from a gum ball machine. The stock of guns w/o locks eventually dried up. I have to tell you that your post reminded me when I was subjected to that lock charge a few times. Hopefully, my post addresses your question.

I've never heard of this, but that doesn't mean anything. All the handguns that I've sold or bought usually came with all the stuff that came in the box.
