Default Eye Dominance Vs Strong/Support Hand Determination

A friend of mine is left eye dominant. She closes her right eye to obtain a sight picture, but prefers a right hand shooting grip (handguns). I suggested trying out a left hand grip to see how it felt, but it wasn't comfortable. I'm wondering how this will play out when she tries to shoot a rifle (not quite easy to shoulder up on the right shoulder and close the right eye while sighting).

I myself am left eye dominant and shoot lefty for both handguns and long guns (right handed otherwise).

Are some people dominant with one eye but shoot with the other hand/shoulder?

I have strong left eye dominance, but am right handed, I shoot handguns with my right hand and just move my gun slightly left, but I shoot long guns left handed, as it is the only way I can do it naturally. If I had to shoot long guns right handed. I would need an eye patch to do so well, my dominance will not let me close just my left eye. Good luck in finding out what works best for your (her) situation.

I'm also left eye dominant was shooting right handed.
About 4 months ago I started shooting with both eyes open.
    Accuracy was greatly improved.
    Might be worth a try.
I'd rather have a gun in my hand then a cop on the phone.

When I was looking into this a while back, a few people claimed they were able to change their dominant eye. I think one guy said he used tape to block one lens of his shooting glasses. As he got used to it, he gradually started removing a little tape at a time. I have no first hand experience with this, but it might be worth a shot.

I am left eye dominant and a right handed shooter, pistol I don't notice much because I tilt the gun but rifles I do notice I'm not as accurate as I should be while using my non dominant eye. Unfortunately I've already chosen to use my right side as my dominant side. A red dot it fine with both eyes opened but iron sights are where I really suffer.

I'm cross eyed dominant and shoot pistols as a righty and rifles as a lefty. There are both odd disadvantages and advantages to this.

Some rifles work better than others for lefties.

Pistol transitions are just plain different, there is now some footwork added, but you can keep a shouldered rifle on target and immediately draw a sidearm.

Run rifle mags and a pistol off the same belt and things can get a bit crowded on the right hip

All things considered most issues are minor, and none of them we present much of a problem.

I can switch up eyes. That and a buck will get you a cup of coffee.

Me too. I have tried closing an eye but usually keep both open.

What kind of foot stance are you guys using, squared up or one in front of the other. I've experimented with both also. Foot forward on the dominant-eye side seems to work well for me.

For recoil recovery and balance you put the non dominant foot forward like you were going to punch someone out or pitch a fast ball.

Also left eye dominant, right handed, I shoot handguns with my right hand and just move my gun slightly left, but I shoot long guns left handed.
The long guns have to go on the left, only way to get on the sights. Pistols don't have that issue. As a pistol uses more hand control/manipulation, I'd think it best to keep control in the dominant hand.
