    Question Taurus 454 Casull

Anyone ever shot the Taurus 454? I shot the Taurus 454 in 6.5" and really liked it but wonder if the 8 3/8" is just more of a good thing or a front heavy SOB? Anybody shot one? Grizz?

    Default Re: Taurus 454 Casull

A guy at my gun club let me shoot his 8 3/8" .454 Raging Bull last year.

I was very impressed with it. The recoil wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. That porting really does the job. I shot a Dan Wesson in .454 before and I thought the recoil of that was brutal.

The Raging Bull I shot had open sights though. A buddy of mine had an 8 3/8" Raging Bull in .44 mag with scope on it. The scope made it too muzzle heavy for my taste. I think it would be better to mount the scope over the receiver instead of the barrel.

I'd say go with the 6 1/2" if you're going to mount a scope but the 8 3/8" would be fine if you're going to stick with open sights.
