Default Well I just broke another one...Sig 226

I had the 226 Navy out to take a picture for the battle pistol thread and decided to throw (place) it in the car and stop by the range. All I was doing was some holster drills and noticed during a reload that the takedown lever has sheared off. I wasn't rough housing it in any way and was moving quite slowly, concentrating on accuracy versus speed. I may have to change my battlefield pistol entry to a G17.

The picture in the battle pistol thread was taken this morning and this is how it looks now.

Looks like it might be a documented issue so I'll be calling Sig tomorrow and asking for a replacement at no charge.

I am glad that I have not even told you about my guns let alone let you see a picture.

Get a CZ. You'll be much better off, and leave the Sigs, and Glocks for the cop wannabees. lol!

Every mechanical device will fail in some way or another, at some point. I like a Glock only because I think it more likely that I could resolve its imminent failure even under the worst of circumstances. It's a gamble at the end of the day.

I have a SIG P229 and have dropped it intentionally several times. Practicing to go to bug when primary is dry or malfunctioning. Never expected to see this on a SIG. A Hi Point or a Kel Tec yes.

Better to break it on the range than on the street. Count yourself lucky.
    gotta love her ;)

Exactly, and that point is when bripro plays with it.

Never seen or heard of that issue but I would contact Sig directly and I am sure they will get on it.

Very sad to see this on a SIG, but mine was a different model (P220ST) and was probably made at the time gunsmiths were gunsmiths, engineers were engineers, assemblymen were men, and if you never clean your gun, what the heck do you need a take-down lever for?

    Just kidding...

SIG will make it right for the part that failed was probably sourced in China with very poor steel.
