Default Battle pistol, which one do you choose and why?

Similar to the poll on the rifle thread. What would you choose for a battle pistol? I didn't list pistol choices in a poll simply because there are so many. I am curious how many will choose the Beretta 92FS.

I recently thought about this (what would be the one pistol I would own if I could only own one) and put together what I consider to be one of the best battlefield pistols available, an FNX45 Tactical with a Trijicon RMR and a Silencerco Osprey45 suppressor. The Trijicon tritium night sights on the gun a raised and actually made for a silencer. The magazines hold 15 rounds of 45 ACP (15+1) and the pistol, like the FN SCAR, is ambidextrous. It also has a decocker on the safety, so this gun can either be carrier cocked and locked, or decocked with the first shot being DA. This was actually a pistol designed for a military contract about a decade ago.

There's lots of great choices. While I'm no Glock fan boy, they are hard to beat in an utilitarian role.

For a "service pistol", I like the full size CZ-75B for this role, or one of the lighter, alloy framed P-01, or PCR. If you must have polymer the full size P-09, or compact P-07 are great choices.

while i share your love for the fnx it is a pretty expensive and heavy setup (mags, ammo, accessories, etc) as compared to a full sized 9mm such as a glock17. not to mention the decreased capacity and availability of extended mags coupled with the relative rarity of replacement parts.

While I love my 1911's , I would have to go with Glock - probably my 17, large capacity, easy follow up in stressful situations, low weight, and always goes bang.

It is quite heavy.....especially with the 15 round mags. This is also a downside IMO to the 1911.

STI 2011. Lighter frame than a 1911, higher capacity. Excellent triggers.

I love my High Powers, but if push comes to shove I'm taking the Glock 17 for all the above reasons.
