Default To stipple or not to stipple? That is the question

Hi everyone, I'm pretty new here. This is the first thread I've ever started (on any forum).

I've got a glock 31 gen 3 and I was thinking about stippling the grip. I did a bunch of research online and started practicing with the iron on old mags and polymer boxes and stuff. Built up the confidence to do a couple of my pocket knives as well as some furniture for my shotgun/AR all without running into any major issues. The reason I'm still reluctant to go ahead with it is because I've heard it really destroys the value of the gun. I'm also a bit worried about the texture tearing up my clothes if I'm IWB carrying.

What does everyone on here think about stippling? Love it? Hate it? Never heard of it? Also, since I'm new here, if I'm posting in the wrong place or doing something incorrect your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Not to stipple. That is the answer.

    IMHO, of course.

This is why I like the Sig P320. If you mess up, you can buy a new frame for $45. I say don't stipple, but use some kind of grip tape.

Is the tape a good option? I've definitely considered that as well.

Check out Talon Grips. They come in either rubber or granulated (basically sandpaper). I don't have Talon grips, but a similar set for my Glock 30S. I went with a grippy rubber, and I love them. Hickok45 uses Talon Grips on all his Glocks.

Will do. Good enough for Hickok45 means good enough for me.

Dont like stippling ! The Gen 4s have it and find it harsh,My Gen 3s never had an issue of slipping or grasping the gun firmly. My G 43 has not stippling from the factory seems its not as popular and not a lot of people care for it. JMO/MDT

It's your gun do as you will however if you ever plan to sell it then DO NOT expect an easy sell or anywhere what it's worth. Stippling puts a very personal mark on a firearm that most just do not want. My personal option is that even the best professional stippling jobs still like like shit and sometimes feel even worse.

    Yup!
