Re: To stipple or not to stipple? That is the question
I like some of the stippling that I have seen done. Some look good and some look like crap. If resale value is part of your concern I wouldn't stipple the gun. If resale is not a concern and you plan on keeping it forever then stipple away!

Re: To stipple or not to stipple? That is the question
To me, stippling is a solution in search of a problem, like this:
But that's just me.

There are better solutions. I wouldn't do any of them unless you have a problem gripping.

Re: To stipple or not to stipple? That is the question
yeah I think I'm going to order some talon grips as was suggested too me. Seems the consensus is stippling turns your gun into a pile of hot garbage. The advice is much appreciated everyone.

Re: To stipple or not to stipple? That is the question
I stipple almost all of the pistols i own (glocks and M&p's), and have done a ton of other peoples guns. As long as you can be neat and take your time i think it looks good on a pistol. On the other hand, i have seen some people try it and totally ruin the gun. I think the grip that it adds to the gun is much different then the grip you get from a talon grips stick on texture.
If you are planning on doing it yourself, my advice would be to mess around on a couple pmags first and see how they turn out. I have also never had any problems selling any of my guns that have been stippled, finger grooves removed, cut with a dremel, etc. BUT, i believe it is because i take my time and make the guns very neat. i agree that it will be much harder to get rid of if it is not done nice.

Skip the stipple, I vote for OD green Cerakote.
Look at most of the results...usually not good.

Re: To stipple or not to stipple? That is the question
Grip Stippling -- "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should."
I draw parallels to 15 yrs ago when the rage was to coat $279 Romanian SAR-1 AKs with bedliner -- "Seemed like a good idea at the time."
Although grip stippling worked in my favor a couple years ago. I came across a used SIG P228 with heavily stippled grips which was priced too high and sat in a display case for months until I waited for the "summer doldrums" to hit, when gun shop cash flow dries up. I asked again to look at it, and the owner was practically begging me to buy it. I told him it was priced too high for it being used and with ruined "stippled" grips. He said make an offer, and I offered $150 less than the tag, but OTD. He pulled out a 4473 from under the counter in less time than it takes to type this.
One local shop won't buy used XDs, H&Ks, FNHs, M&Ps, or Glocks with grip stippling. They can't get rid of them.
