Re: Carry w/a permit in a commercial tractor trailer
i would rather b e looking for a job than be dead ! my family would be worse off me being dead than looking for a job.. unemployment would be a good 6 to12 months and then theres always mcdonalds !
to me the risk is too high not to protect myself !
i have been driving truck for 17 + years now, i have been jumped twice, both times in Philly. luckily they were not prepared for who they were dealing with.
BUT , they were kids , mid teens and only once was one of them armed with a knife.. if it would have been someone older and stronger i would have had problems ! because they are never alone always 3 or more.Tigers love pepper, they don't like cinnamon !

Title 18 Setcion 926(a). The peacable journey law.
TITLE 18--CRIMES AND CRIMINAL PROCEDURE
PART I--CRIMES
CHAPTER 44--FIREARMS
Sec. 926A. Interstate transportation of firearms
Notwithstanding any other provision of any law or any rule or
regulation of a State or any political subdivision thereof, any person
who is not otherwise prohibited by this chapter from transporting,
shipping, or receiving a firearm shall be entitled to transport a
firearm for any lawful purpose from any place where he may lawfully
possess and carry such firearm to any other place where he may lawfully
possess and carry such firearm if, during such transportation the
firearm is unloaded, and neither the firearm nor any ammunition being
transported is readily accessible or is directly accessible from the
passenger compartment of such transporting vehicle: Provided, That in
the case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver's
compartment the firearm or ammunition shall be contained in a locked
container other than the glove compartment or console.
There aren't any dot regulations restricting carrying firearms that I have seen. I drove truck for 8 years and found if I knew I was going to a state that didn't have reciprocity I would just lock it up and unload it. If your not sure what states do, while your on the road lock it up.

Thanks guys. He does own his truck, AFAIK. The strongbox idea is a good one. Maybe he will stop being such a $3 bill, and post in the thread himself

All I can say is if your getting bothered that much you need to learn situational awareness. After over 30 years and over 3 1/2 million miles I`ve never been bothered. That`s going to the worst places in the US from coast to coast. Produce into Hunt`s Point back in the 70`s when it was not cleaned up to the meat markets of the Midwest. I`ve been to every hell hole.
The statistical reality is you are at a far greater risk of being killed on the job from a job related accident then by being assaulted.
