concealed carry license in dauphin county
I know that questions have been asked before as to "where do I go to get a concealed license?", but my question has a slight twist. Where EXACTLY do I go to apply for the license? I know it is a government building in Harrisburg, but other than that I don't know. Does anybody know the name of the building as well as the address? I seem to get 3 different answers depending on who I ask, one of them including the DOT... Of course, the people that I ask either don't have the permit or have the permit with another county.
Thanks in advance!

Re: concealed carry license in dauphin county
You must apply with the county sheriffs office. I believe Dauphin county's is at Front and Market st in Harrisburg. Check for their web site.
sorry, that's the best I can offer right now.
Also, just as info. It is not a concealed carry license. It is a License To Carry Firearms (LTCF)
It does not have to be concealed.Last edited by Driver400; July 27th, 2008 at 01:10 PM. Reason: added info

The only additional information I could find for you was at http://www.dauphincounty.org/publicl...cials/sheriff/
Sheriff
Jack Lotwick
Dauphin County Courthouse - 1st Floor
Room 104
Front & Market Streets
Harrisburg, PA 17101
(717) 780-6590 Phone
The Dauphin County Sheriff's Department is an arm of the Court. The Sheriff, elected to a four-year term, oversees the transporting of prisoners from the Dauphin County Prison to the Courthouse, securing the interior of the courtroom, and serving court papers.
The Sheriff protects citizens from dangerous prisoners and safeguards against escapes.
Additionally, the Sheriff issues permits to citizens wishing to carry a concealed gun.
Also, as something completely off-topic, I also found an interesting blurb on their Parks and Recreation - Facilities Overview and Rules page down on rule #14.

Re: concealed carry license in dauphin county
All the above are correct, park if you're able on Front St and enter on Market St. go through the security procedure right inside the door, up about 6 stairs and straight ahead, the door on the right, specifically for LTCF apps, have your two references ready, take a pic if desired, pay your money, wait ten days or so and they call, then pick it up. Re: concealed carry license in dauphin county
Sorry about that. You are absolutely right. For some reason I always refer to it as concealed weapon permit (mostly because I am from NY where you can't carry unless you have a concealed permit, which they rarely give out to anybody).
And to everyone else, THANK YOU for all of the info. This makes things much easier. It turns out my girlfriend works just a few blocks down from this particular office. And I know that this probably doesn't belong in this forum, but while we are on the subject of the sheriff's office, is this the same place to go to for Class 3 items?

just to add.. if you dont feel like running downtown Hbg, you can go to the office of state rep Ron Marsico.. his office is on Linglestown road .. only time is tuesdays between 5 and 7 when a member of the sheriff's dept is there..
i hate goping downtown so i utilized this option and was pleased, you walk in ask the deputy for a LTCF app fill it out he takes half the money then and takes your pic. ( it will be mandatory next year) also it is a legal photo id in Pa,
he will tell you to come back next tuesday between 5 and 7pm and you pay the rest and off you go

Re: concealed carry license in dauphin county
I went down to the court house in Harrisburg. But like 4XLT said check out the Reps office. Saves you having to pay for parking in Harrisburg atleast.
Also no to hijack this thread....I moved do i need to call the sheriffs office and let them know, so they can change it on their records or should I not worry about it?
