We have an NFA section in this forum. You'd probably get more response there.

But here is what you'll need to do.
    1. buy the shotgun
    2. get it engraved with your info.
    3. get 2 form 1's from the atf
    4. get 2 finger print cards
    5. get 1 citizenship form
****Note**** you can order the complete package from the atf.
    6. fill out both form 1's
    7. get fingerprinted
    8. get cleo to sign both form 1's
    9. get 2 passport sized photos--and attach them to the form 1's
    10. write check for $200.
    11. mail both form 1's, both fingerprint cards, 1 citizenship form, and the check to the atf in WV.
    12. wait 3 months for approval.
    13. put short barrel on the shotgun.

    yeah, a little work---but it's worth it.

The NFA Section will answer all of your questions. Stop by there. If your questions don't get answerted just do a new post asking any other questions you may have. The NFA guys on the forum are very well versed in what to do.

I'm just curious here, but why do you want a short bbl 870 so bad that you are willing to go thru all those hopes? Don't get me wrong, if you want it get it, I'm not looking for justification just wondering.

I did it. I have a 12" barrel on my 870. I bought an engraver and did the barrel myself. It doesn't look that great with the home engrave job, but I don't plan to ever sell it so who cares.

I was going to have the receiver done, but it was a 6 to 8 week wait for the place I wanted to do it and they are out of state. I still will get it done eventually. I also plan to get at least 2 more barrels for it.

The NFA section of PAFOA is a good place for info.

I got 90% of my info from this thread at shotgun world http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/view...294c357f3c85e6

The rest Jaybell helped me out with.

If you buy it as an SBS/AOW I don't think you will need to engrave your info on it, that is only when you are the builder. Besides that you'll need a CLEO signature(or the coporation/trust route), picture, and citizenship form IIRC along with check which is $5 for the AOW TRANSFER(still $200 to build which many people can't get threw their heads) and $200 for an SBS transfer.
