Shyda's: A great place NOT to shop

I usually do not speak in absolutes, but I'm going to here: I'm absolutely done with Shyda's. I've been buying firearms, supplies, and reloading components and supplies there for 12 years. No more.

If you want treated like you're a problem and an inconvenience for walking through the door, then Shyda's is the place for you. For a couple years the environment has been becoming increasingly caustic. That environment has been the rule, not the exception, the last few visits have sealed the deal. Emphasis on "last."

No one needs the red carpet treatment, and no needs treated like a problem for committing the sin of wanting to purchase products in a store or for simply asking about sponsorship for a local club event.

I'm taking my money to local competitors and online shopping from here on.

Can you be a little more specific about the events? Like what exactly happened? Your post is a little vague on details...

I have shopped there regularily for 24 years and have never had an issue. I can walk in and be greeted but not stalked. I prefer their approach where they let customers look without being harassed at every turn.

I don't know anything about this shop, but "somewhat fairly" is hardly a ringing endorsement !

IMHO they don't hover, preach or try to sell you on their personal opinion when you ask a question. The last time I was there I glanced at the used rack and was asked once if I needed help by someone behind the counter. The time before that I purchased an old .22 bolt action rifle after asking if I could get the tag price "out the door" and was promptly told yes. That is usually how it goes when I stop in there and that would be "somewhat fairly". I guess I could rephrase my statement and say " I've been treated well there".

I bought two guns there and have no issues. They did raise their prices after the Newtown shooting but who didn't? I'm not gonna fault them there. As stated, they don't hover and assist when asked. I would buy from them again.

I've been buying guns there since the early 90's, and usually have a good experience. However, I haven't been in there in a while, so I don't know how it is now.

Couple of times I've been in there I had no issues. One of their people even centered the rear night sight on my G19 that was installed offset to the right by another local gun smith.
