OC Smith and Wesson Model 500?
I've been contemplating buying a SW Model 500, the "X-Frame" with the 10 inch barrel. I can think of no practical reason for the purchase, because I don't hunt, other than having a real "badass" gun to shoot at the range and show off to friends. But, then I was thinking why not OC this monster of a firearm? What do people think? Too much gun for OC? Or really cool for OC?

Not quite as cool as OCing a Mark XIX Deagle, sorry. Have you ever actually shot a S&W 500?
(P.S.: Don't put your thumb beside the cylinder gap!)Last edited by pex; July 25th, 2008 at 03:09 PM.

No.
#1. You can't draw it fast enough.
#2. You can't aim it fast enough.
#3. If involved in a self-defense shooting, prosecutors could go after you for using more firepower than necessary.Open Carry: it's whats for dinner.

Is there a difference in lethal force? Dead is dead. A S&W500 may just cut a man in half though. messy.
I'd say save your money... Ammo is expensive and after a while the novelty will wear off. You'd end up with a big huge heavy safe queen.
I'd call it quite a bit tacky for OC. You'll definitely have to deal with the cops.Μολὼν λάβε
