PA resident buying long gun in Md
May I as a resident of PA travel to MD and privately purchase a long gun from an individual (non-licensee)?

I'm not sure, but I think interstate sales had to go through a FFL. One of the big dogs here will give you the answer for sure.

Re: PA resident buying long gun in Md
Thanks. I've been a member for awhile, but mostly lurk, read and learn. I'm familiar with the requirements for shipping interstate and intrastate but not up to date on private face-to-face sales in contiguous states.

oops. Forgot the face to face part. Well... It's still an interstate sale. I dunno... I'll search some more though.

Re: PA resident buying long gun in Md
The term 'Face to Face' is often used to describe transactions that do include a FFL. It typically indicates that the seller is not interested in shipping the firearm, not that he wishes to engage in an illegal transfer. Of course, it's always best to be as specific as possible.

Re: PA resident buying long gun in Md
Thanks for the info. You guys have answered my question. I realize now that I will have to use a FFL to do the transfer even though there is no interstate shipping involved. For some reason, I thought a face-to-face could be done without an FFL in contiguous states.
