I am a little confused on the flyer where it’s says “Ask Tom Corbertt”. As far as I know Corbertt never reserved his position on guns.

It is pretty well known within the political class that Corbett lost because many in his base simply did not come out to vote for him, and because a few who were really pissed (about Sanduski, Gas tax, etc.) actively campaigned for the Democrat.

Toomey is bringing up gun control to win the so-called independents. Well, he won't win them over with some stupid gun bill, and he will lose a big chunk of his base.

His miscalculation is that he thinks the GOP leadership will get him reelected. He forgets that he needs his base, and that without them, he goes home.

We need to make him understand that. "Hey Pat... you hear that loud sucking sound? That's the sound of your base, leaving the room!"

Pennsylvania is getting more blue by the day and Toomey knows it. He's already running ads here in the Philly market about how he is able to "reach across the aisle" and work with democrats in order to stake out his spot in the middle with independents and fiscally conservative democrats. He needs to win the the all important Philly burbs which are getting increasingly democrat. We all want an ideological purist, but Toomey is a realist and will do what he believes will get him re-elected.

Excellent point, one that seems lost on the extremists who can't grasp the meaning of the old phrase "to cut off your nose to spite your face".

I've seen pompous purists arguing for years that we need to "punish" the GOP by letting the Democrats run and ruin our country. Every election, these same "conservatives" (bolstered by a large number of 5th columnists masquerading as conservatives, who are only too happy to haunt gun boards and encourage us to let the Socialists run the country for another 4 years, because THAT will show those guys in the GOP) show up and aid and abet the enemy.

Whenever you purge your own ranks of everybody who's less than perfect, you're going to find out that the other side outnumbers you, and you're going to lose. Again.

Rinos are what cause us to lose elections. Reaching across the aisle is nothing more than saying I'll give up my beliefs to try and please the leftist press. A strong unafraid conservative would bring voters out of the woodwork because now they stay home rather than vote for a pile of mush. Romney won independents by a large margin but conservatives stayed home rather than vote for another insincere wishy washy. Rinos need to be told to sit the hell down and STFU because they lose elections every time they try.

Corbett lost the election because he didn't want to governor for another four years. He was mercilessly assailed every day by the leftist press from around the state. Wolf gets glowing marks but he can't even tie his own shoes. A tough conservative would have to be stronger than the whiners that run the welfare capitols at each end of the state.
