Mine is a B-West, blued finish. 99 percent condition. The Walther is a new blued model made by S&W (and it's reliable). My experience with the S&W PPKs is that they are well made and reliable.

If by one step above a hammer you mean one of the most reliable well built military side arms ever made then yeah he should keep the Mac.

Op the Walther will fetch you more money on the current market and the Mac is a better built pistol. If the reliability is equal and you like them both equally then go for the money.

Used guns are not selling as fast as they once did. I see classifieds here with good deals that are bumped up a dozen times. If you plan to sell them here why dont you list them both and see which sells first then close the second ad?

Walther PPK has that cool aspect, it is a legend, and the finish and aesthetics are second to none. But from a functional aspect, the Makarov is just so damned reliable and durable. I know it will always go bang, even after it's run over by a jeep. The Walther will jam if it's not kept clean.

    You make a great point.
I think there are very few pistols (modern designs included) that can exceed or even match the reliability and durability of the MAK.

But the Walther is so cool.

It's a tough one for me

I want to own a blued PPK. If I had money, I would perhaps be able to help make your decision easier by offering to buy it off you Haha

I've shot a PPK multiple times. It's not your smallest .380, but it sure feels like it is built like a tank!

When I bought my own .380, I actually ended up going with a Sig P230 instead, but the PPK/S was a contender.

My first gun was a blued PPK and I carried it all the time. It was a great shooter too.

I'd vote to keep that one, but as someone else mentioned, it will probably get you more $ and the Mak's a reliable gun too, so either way you're OK. I guess it depends on how much money you need as to which one to sell.

Wow, this is a tough one:

    PPK/S:
Pros- the name, the look, parts are relatively easy to get, magazines are easy to get.
Cons- S&W ones are not as nice of a fit and finish as the old Interarms and German models, can occasionally jam on modern ammo, stout recoil for a little gun.

    Makarov:
Pros- will eat any ammo, extremely strong, extremely reliable, a unique gun.
Cons- parts supply will never be any bigger than it is today, magazines aren't as easy to get, lower resale value.

I would say keep the one that you will get the most enjoyment from.

If cops going to take a way one of your pistol, which one would you rather give up?
Keep the one that you are going to give up.
