Default Advice on new gun please

Toss up Walthers PPQ 2 or S&W Shield both 9mm?
    Which would you choose?
    Thank's
I'd rather have a gun in my hand then a cop on the phone.

What are your priorities? Always a tough call. I always compare buying a handgun to buying shoes. Different fit, feel, etc. for everyone.

PPQ is mid-size, double stack. I have the PPQ and for me the fit is excellent. The trigger is also excellent with a short reset. So for capacity and IMHO, feel, PPQ wins.

Shield is compact, single stack. No personal experience with it, but it is on my short list for a smaller, slimmer, more easily concealable option. For compactness/concealment, Shield wins.

    They are both decent pistols.

Like the esh211 said......its like buying shoes. Try them both on (best if they are side by side in one shop) and see which one speaks to you and says take me home.

As noted above, they're pretty different tools. What do you want the gun for? HD, carrying, range toy, 1 gun do it all?

Just shot a friend's Shield, nice, comfortable 9mm. But, compared to my full size M&P it's recoil is snappier. For HD much prefer my M&P, walking around in shorts and t-shirt, would grab the Shield.

Shield is great as a summer carry gun, I wouldn't buy it for home defense pistol. Like others have said, depends on what you wanna use it for.

The Walther PPS is more on par with the S&W Shield. If you can handle a little fatter subcompact pistol look at the Glock 26. The fatness of the 26 allows decent 10+1 capacity.

That and a G43. At least look before you buy...you may want one, later.
BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

Hi, I'm new to the site, but I own a Taurus PT111 MIL G2 and I like it very much .It handles very nice ,very accurate low recoil and fun to shoot .Also very inexpensive, compare to what you are looking at. If you have not check them out yet , I would give it a look .Check it out at your favorite Gun shop thencheck the pricing on the net. KYGUNCO. HAD THEM FOR UNDER TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS . Again I really like mine . There are a lot of Taurus haters out there, but I'll tell you I OWN THREE AND HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS.Just a thought.
