Default PROPS to the New Castle police department

So, yesterday, our fine town had an arts festival downtown. The ENTIRE city of new castle was there. After the festival, they have fireworks, which is what I believe draws the crowd. AAAANYWAY.... I figured I'd test the waters of our town's police force, and openly carry my 1911 down to the festival. (Note,I did not HAVE flyers on me, I did NOT HAVE my phone set to record any interactions, I was just there, partaking in my 2nd amendment rights not make any kind of statement)

    Ok, back to the story

Hopped into the car, drove downtown, got out and walked the entire thing with my family. My kids enjoyed the bouncy houses and inflatable slides they had. The wifey and I enjoyed the food. We looked at some art, listened to some music, and hung around down there for about 2 hours. Now, the interesting part... ready?

NOTHING HAPPENED. There were about 6 or 7 police officers standing in a bunch in the middle of the event wearing "street crimes unit" t-shirts, and about another 3 uniformed officers. They ALL looked at me as I passed with my family, and one of the street crimes guys peeled off from the group, and followed me for about 100 feet, but when we stopped at a booth to look at something, he continued to walk. So I'm not all that sure if he was even following me.

I have a picture with my son and the K-9 officer representitive whom was with another person from the police station. We spoke with them for a few seconds, my daughter was afraid of the guy in the costume, so we only stayed long enough to have my son take a picture with the man sized doggie. The officer whom was escorting the costumed guy around never said a word to me.

All in all... it was a REALLY great time. Congratulations NCPD, you guys are alright in my book....

They were correct in assuming a normal guy with his family not doing anything crazy was not a threat

    Sounds good!

I have to say that while I defend your right to OC and generally don't think a whole lot of most cops and their actions, I'd be inclined to ignore any plight that might have befallen you after reading this line.

You have the right to open carry for whatever reason you desire. Karma, however, is a fickle bitch.
