Adjustable sights on duty guns

Not a good idea, I've seen a number of cases where they shifted and one Ruger 6in.357 on a NJ troopers gun had the blade in the rear sight fall out. A service gun should be able to take a beating.

Fixed sight guns are seldom perfect but seldom far off, at least they don't change unless you take a file to them. They are reliable.

While I'm on the subject of duty guns, NO extended mag release, with these 16 shot guns today I'd be more worried about accidentally dropping the mag than running out of ammo, if you are actually trying to hit something 16 shots is a whole lot of shooting. Extended mag release is for compitition guns where all you have to loose is a game.

Properly functioning adjustable sights should not move without the deliberate use of a tool by an adjuster. If they move on their own, something is wrong.

Correct in theroy but something can go weong with them, not with fixed sights. The drift adjustable sights are pretty good, I'm talking about screw adjustible like on a Combat Masterpiece.

On a duty gun? The rear sight is exposed unless you have some kind of a hooded holser. Every time you grapple with someone, or bump into stuff...your sights could go out of wack.

Adjustable sights are a liability on a combat weapon...they offer no advantage. You can drift rear sights, and get different height front sights to get your sights alligned for use at any forseable combat distance.

I've made hits at 50 yards on a 12" plate with Big-Dots....Novaks, Heine's, Warren Tactical sights.....there all capable of being lined up where they should be on any gun. If you need adjustable sights on your pistol, odds are your not pulling the trigger correctly.

Take a look at any hard use gun spec'ed out for duty use...non have Adj sights (except for maybe the Mk 23/ USP Tactical).
