Re: Protective Shooting Concepts 2015 Schedule
Our Protective Carbine 1 class is coming up in less than a month!
Protective Carbine 1 builds safe and accurate armed citizens. Topics covered include: risk assessment and mitigation, body alignment, presentation and the fundamental mount, aiming, trigger control, zeroing for iron sights and optics, field strip/technical inspection/maintenance/function check, active and reactive ammunition management, target transitions, malfunction clearance, and an introduction to various skill drills.
Short, lightweight, semi-automatic carbines are most appropriate, but full-size battle rifles are welcome. Day one includes a maintenance seminar and weapon inspection (based around the AR-15) - any deficiencies are corrected on the spot. Day continues with hard zeroing both iron sights and optics and concludes with prone shooting at various ranges, out to 200 yards. On Day two, shooters hit the ground running with the full confidence of tweaked, lubed, and zeroed guns, progressing into faster shooting and more efficient manipulations.
Required:
- ballistic eye protection & hearing protection
- semi-automatic carbine or rifle
- functional iron sights
- several spare magazines (or clips if appropriate)
- 500 rounds of ammunition
- suitable range wear depending on the season
Optional:
- sling
- optical sight or scope (avoid heavy magnification)
- spare magazine pouch worn on the belt
- .22lr carbine of a type which functions like a full-power counterpart
- shooting mat to lay on

Re: Protective Shooting Concepts 2015 Schedule
If you've never had any formal firearms training but you have an interest, our upcoming Protective Carbine 1 is a great place to start. We enter at the ground floor and steadily work our way up - you'll be surprised at what you learn and how well you'll perform!
Coming up this August 15th & 16th in Beaver Falls, PA!

Re: Protective Shooting Concepts 2015 Schedule
You can still squeak into Protective Carbine 1 this weekend in Beaver Falls, PA... I even have rental guns, if you have the desire but not the hardware.
Wait - isn't that a line from Shakespeare?

Re: Protective Shooting Concepts 2015 Schedule
I've had the FIRE Institute one-day handgun clinic and Inpax defensive handgun, would those cover the prerequisite for any of your handgun classes?

Re: Protective Shooting Concepts 2015 Schedule
Protective Carbine 2 teaches you to fight with your long gun! This two day class is optimized for the armed citizen, however it's also great for lone LEOs deploying patrol rifles! Don't "play Army" - learn what YOU need to do to WIN!
You MUST HAVE the following to participate: ballistic eye protection, filtered hearing protection, sturdy belt, adjusting two point sling, carbine magazine carrier, semi-auto carbine of at least 5.45mm caliber, weapon mounted light attached to your carbine, and three spare carbine magazines (more are better).
You MUST ALSO HAVE: 750 rounds of FMJ carbine ammunition, 60 rounds of frangible carbine ammunition, holster (AIWB *is* allowed), semi-auto pistol of at least .380 caliber, 50 rounds FMJ pistol ammunition, hand held flashlight, weapon lubricant, and a tourniquet (SOF-T or CAT). Your carbine is expected to have a confirmed zero with BOTH iron sights AND optics.

Re: Protective Shooting Concepts 2015 Schedule
Protective Shotgun teaches you to operate your scattergun like a BOSS! Either semi-automatic or pump - this day long class gets your "autopilot" active to keep them constantly fed with ammunition! Learn to run these powerful weapons properly!
You MUST HAVE the following to participate: ballistic eye protection, filtered hearing protection, sturdy belt, adjusting two point sling, dump pouch, semi-auto or pump shotgun, 250 buckshot shells, 25 slugs, weapon lubricant, and a tourniquet (SOF-T or CAT). You need to bring lunch.
