    Default Revolver cylinder face issue?

I just got my Bisley back from Ruger a few weeks ago. I sent it back because the throats were all different sizes and the groupings were terrible. I took it out a couple of days ago and just stripped and cleaned it when I noticed this

    Any ideas?

Looks like they opened up two of your throats to get 'em in spec with the other ones. I'm guessing you haven't shot this yet? Put some rounds thru it and those cylinders will get as black as the others.

When it came back, the bluing was fine. When I shot it the other day this happened. Accuracy was great though

Is the gap the same between the front of the cylinder and the barrel on all the chambers? Feeler gauges would be the most accurate but you could stack up some paper to check. A std piece of printer paper is usually around .003".

Fouling doesn't work that way and if they reamed the top cylinder the markings should be circular.

They are definitely not the same just checking it with the printer paper like you mentioned. The marked up chambers are definitely tighter

Kinda what I figured. The tighter gap does not let out as much gases/blast as the other holes with the larger gap.

Should I worry about this at all or is it more just a cosmetic thing? I fired about 100 reloads through it and accuracy was great

It is not just cosmetic. If you chrono your loads I suspect you will probably see slightly more velocity out of the 2 cylinders with less gap.

Here is some reading on cylinder gaps.

    http://www.ballisticsbytheinch.com/gaptests.html

Going by your carbon marks the 2 cylinders it looks like they are quite a bit tighter than the other 4. But you don't know how far they are off unless you get out some actual feeler gauges to measure the gaps precisely. If it were me I'd at least contact Ruger again and send them your pictures and see what they say. I have been seeing a lot of guys on forums having to send their guns back to Ruger lately. One sent 4 back to Ruger for work out of the 5 he had bought recently.

Looking at those charts there is some pretty significant velocity difference. I'll be sending Ruger an email. It's disappointing to hear they are having so many quality issues. Thanks!
