I don't get the Wakefield reference. Am I missing something obvious?

Yep, you definitely missed something obvious.

I think the next time I see someone open carrying, I will ask them "Have you ever heard of the constitution, motherfucker" just to see if they're PAFOA members. Or if they get angry. One of the two is probable.

My response would be,"Yes, and I spent 20 years of my life defending it. How about you?"

A lot less, but it looks like both of us did a pretty shitty job of it.

Unfortunately we could only do what we allowed to do by our civilian "leadership".

He was misinformed, and probably by his sheriff. I work with a guy from that county and he has the same belief, because when he went to pick up his LTCF, they told him he had to conceal now that he has the LTCF and he could get arrested if he open carried.
It's all fun and games, until someone loses an eye. Then it is hilarious.

Sounds like both positive encounter to me. Just two citizens, one seemed concerned for your own sake and the other was just curious.

I've had people ask me to cover my weapon when its become revealed (my shirt gets caught on the holster or something). As long as they ask politely I comply with their request and thank them for pointing it out, like I would thank someone for telling me I had food on my face.

Its when I get comments like "you know it really is unnecessarily dangerous to be carrying around a loaded gun like that" that I start citing legal precedent, statistics, and peer reviewed studies until they back off. I then make it a point to keep my gun visible and in sight of the person who made the complaint until I'm done shopping.
