UPMC Presbyterian in Oakland now Posted as a Gun Free Zone
From what I have observed there are signs posted at the vehicle entrance to the Lothrop St. Garage, on the doors from the garage to the hospital, and at the main entrance of the hospital.
There are no metal detectors or security screenings in the main hospital, but the Emergency Department still has a security screening with a walk though metal detector.Last edited by QuackXP; November 23rd, 2015 at 11:11 AM.

As an aside to a non-yinzer seeing this post; Oakland is in an neighborhood area not far from Mogadishu, and gang bangers will have no issue walking into an ER to finish off the job.
The hope is the G-F-Z sign is made of kevlar and steel, and so the guards can use it as a shield from errant forty-fire.All of my guns are lubed with BACON GREASE.

Re: UPMC Presbyterian in Oakland now Posted as a Gun Free Zone
All of upmc's hospitals are gun free zones! I am at many everyday and same with the casino...it sure don't stop me from being infringed upon my 2A rights! Now after 8pm it's a different story at the hospitals, because the only entrance open is the er and now they all have metal detectors at only this entrance!

Unless something very recently changed you can still go in the main entrance to Presbyterian past 9pm. You just have to have the guard there confirm what patient you are seeing. There is no security screening and you cannot get there from the garage you have to walk outside of the garage down Lothrop St to the entrance. Supposedly there is another way, but I haven't been able to figure it out.
However after 9pm (sometimes earlier especially on weekends) when other hospital staff leave the security guard does not validate parking. That is done in the emergency department where you have to go through the metal detectors.Last edited by QuackXP; July 27th, 2015 at 11:46 AM.

Sorry...upmc east,McKeesport, and shadyside are the only ones I have been at after 8pm. And they are only er entrances for metal detector use! The latest I have been at Presby is 6:30 so if ever I am there late...be sure I will be looking for the main and not er! Thanks

Re: UPMC Presbyterian in Oakland now Posted as a Gun Free Zone
If your going to be there longer than 4 hours you will want to validate your parking as it will be much cheaper. If your a patient you can sometimes do it at the registration desk for the department you are seeing if not you or you are a visitor you can do it at the information desk in the lobby. But sometime after business hours this closes down and you have to validate through the emergency department and to do that you have to go through a security screening with a metal detector.
