    Default ruger vaquero

    Hey all.
Looking at a ruger vaquero in 44 mag 7.5 barrel. Went to a gun shop had a used one there. I liked the feel and balance. Never had a single action before but wanting one so i decided to layaway the gun.
Anything to look for or know about it.

    Thanks mark

Not the vaquero But I do have the Ruger SBH and a BH in 45 LC; I have no complaints with either.

You cant go wrong with a Vaquero. I've got an older polished stainless vaquero in .357 with a 6" barrel. That one will never ever leave my collection!

Are you looking at the vaquero or the "new vaquero"? Two different models. The new vaquero has a smaller frame more akin to the size of the original colt. The older vaquero with the more robust frame could handle anything. I think the new ones may be just a strong but I am not sure. I have never had a problem with any of my 45colt model new vaqueros. Even with hot loads. I think you will find that it is built like a tank and will last a very long time.

I have a Vaquero that has served me fine for the better part of 10 years now. They are based on the Blackhawk frames, sturdy and beefy.

I have no experience with the "New Vaquero" though, but I do know they are built closer to the Colt SAA dimensions(smaller).
