    Default Unusual Buck ??

Saw this one out back yesterday.....It appears to be the one I saw last fall that lost the fight and only had one antler.

    George,
So many guns, so little money.

He looks freaky, maybe a head injury. I would be looking for him in the fall though.

Yep, I'd be keeping an eye on him. Depending on how much mass developes he might be a real interesting buck.

I'd be hesitant to eat that one. You could mutate and end up with more than one Johnson or something.

So i am guessing he meets the 3 points on one side rule, seeing as he has 3 separate antlers...interesting.

I would suspect injury to the pedicel, the tissue that supports the antler. We had one here a few years ago that had an extra 3 point antler growing out of the right eye socket; odd looking to say the least!

    From the Izaak Walton League:
The skin or tissue that develops at the top of the pedicel reacts to hormones in the deer body and actually causes an antler to grow/develop. The most interesting aspect of this antler growth tissue is that, if it is surgically removed and grafted to another part of the deer’s body, an antler will grow there. For example, it would be possible to surgically produce a unicorn deer or a deer with 10 antlers growing out of its skull or any other part of the body.
Resistance to tyrants is obedience to God.
