My .41 magnum experience
A few years ago I got lucky and found (and bought) a Smith & Wesson model 58 (41 magnum). I loved the gun, and carried frequently. It handled well, had awesome firepower (emphasis on fire), and everytime I took it to the range, I got comments on how cool the gun was. Like an idiot, I sold it for something else. At the time, my dad told me: 'You're going to want that gun back someday'.
About a year goes by, and this is the only gun I regretted selling. I decided to pick one up, and this one is in very good condition. Pinned barrel and recessed chambers, target grips. I like having this gun back.

Re: My .41 magnum experience
I fully agree. I have the 57 in 6.5" and 8 3/8". Load with that unknown cartridge, the 0.41 Special. I picked up a batch of Starline brass in 41 special a few years ago and load according to data from John Taffin. Works perfectly. Dave_N

I had one slip through my fingers last year. I kick myself every once a while.
Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Re: My .41 magnum experience
I once had a Ruger Blackhawk in .41 and it was a great gun.
Id like to see .41 comeback as a popular caliber.

Re: My .41 magnum experience
.41 seems to have a loyal following. But it seems that autoloaders are here to stay, and the majority of gun enthusiasts gravitate either to the polymer hi-caps or the 1911. I'll take my model 58 over any of those any day. (although it gets a close competition from my Heckler & Koch P7's.)

Re: My .41 magnum experience
I have had a number of .41's and liked all of them. The trouble is, I sold them. I will not do that again. I'm going to keep what I have and keep shooting it. When I see another one, I'll get and keep it. The .41 is a great gun to reload for because you can find the round it likes and go from there. I had a Ruger that liked 200 gr. LFP over a mid level load of 296. I could keep it in the ten ring at 50 yards.

Re: My .41 magnum experience
Had two. In the end I sold them. As a reloader, they couldn't do anything my 357 or 44's could not do better.

Re: My .41 magnum experience
I picked up a model 57-1 6" today and I'm pretty excited to shoot it. No one had ammo locally and I don't reload, does anyone know of a local shop to the Philadelphia area that will have it? I don't plan to shoot it a lot, that's what my glocks are for.
Go head, skin it. Skin that smoke wagon and see what happens.

I can't help you with a place locally.
But lucky gunner has some JHP's in stock at a decent price;
