    Default Na "interssting" "news" article

Carried on Yahoo News at https://www.yahoo.com/news/guns-rare...205812892.html

And I am really pissed off because Yahoo has done away with the option to comment on virtually ALL their U.S. and World news articles.

What is worse is any or all of us could probably shoot this article down in 3 sentences or less! For example the data they use ONLY COUNTS incidents that result in a perps DEATH! They do not count instances where the crime was stopped with the perp being wounded or surrendering. Also they do not count instances where the presence of a gun preempted the commission of a crime. See! 3 sentences, job done!

Guns rarely used for self-defense in US
    AFP
    ‎June‎ ‎17‎, ‎2015

Washington (AFP) - Contrary to what the gun lobby argues, personal firearms in the United States are rarely used for self-defense, a gun control advocacy group said Wednesday.

In an analysis of FBI and other federal government data, the non-profit Violence Policy Center said Americans are far more likely to hurt themselves or others when handling a lethal weapon.

In 2012, it said, only 259 "justifiable homicides" involving a private citizen were reported, compared to 8,342 criminal homicides committed with a gun.
Read the whole article, it cites that friend of freedom Josh Sugarman.

They're arguments don't hold water when given a chance of rebuttal. Agendas based on lies and skewed numbers never will.

Most of the comments were positive. Here's a good and example which typifies most of the 7000 posts:

So if we shouldn't have guns for self defense because they are rarely used, should we have the following:

    1. Fire extinguishers
    2. Fire escape from buildings.
    3. Window breakers for being trapped in a car
    4. Life Guards at a pool
    5. Life preservers on a boat
    6. Life rafts on a boat.
    7. shock paddles for heart attacks
    8. Slides on a plane for water landings
    9. Fire proof sleeping bags.
    10. Fire retardant couches
    11. Nuclear weapons
    12. CO2 detectors
    13. Fire alarms
    14. Radon detector

The list goes on and on, but these are rarely used so we should probably ban them (thick dripping sarcasm)

That's right. Ever her the saying better safe than sorry. I'd rather have a gun even if I don't get to use it than get caught without one when my life depends on it.
