Re: Help with home range construction
That would be ideal right there. Im confident I could run the equipment myself. Its been awhile, 20 years or so, but I think I could manage. =]
Would you mind sharing the name of the rental place in Dover? PM if you dont want to reply in thread.
Maybe they can recommend a place local to me if they cant help out.

Hmmmm. Well this might work. http://www.bowersinfo.com/mini-excavators.htm
Might be time to dust off the "vacation" slips from work and get to range constructing.

Re: Help with home range construction
Maybe, depends upon the size of those rocks that you can't see. Last summer I needed my sewer line dug up in the front yard due to a root breaking it off. I found a guy on CL that had a buddy with access to one of them. They came out, dug it up, replaced the line and refilled and it cost me $270 and a case of beer vs paying the quoted price of the professional plumber of $1500. These guys were professional plumbers, but they were just doing the work on the side. Check around on CL, maybe you'll find someone in your area with access to one.

Re: Help with home range construction
Certainly - it's the Ace Hardware in Manchester, PA right down the road, phone number (717) 266-3664. All the new equipment is so much better than it was 20 years ago too. Good hydraulics, stronger pins, etc. I own a large 70's backhoe and my fair share of farm tractors, but I find myself renting more equipment for specialty work around here. I'm sure you would get the hang of it in 20 minutes. My wife dug 600 foot of 3' deep trench in about 8 hours, and she's no excavator expert! Have fun!
P.S. You can rent really big stuff at places like Caterpillar, like D-8 & D-9 d but often times you need $1M in liability insurance (which we have on the farm).Resistance to tyrants is obedience to God.
