Re: Vote YES to Semi-Auto for Hunting in PA
I also agree he won't sign it. Democrats have been fooling the sheep into thinking the 2nd Amendment is about hunting in which you don't "need an assault rifle to hunt deer." If he signs this into law, he will be making his own argument irrelevant. Not going to happen. Elections have consequences, and this is one of the many negative consequences of having Wolf.

Re: Vote YES to Semi-Auto for Hunting in PA
I believe you are correct. The Democrats, media, our government in general, education etc all promote the lie that the 2A is about hunting. As we all know it is not. However, the GCA 1968 has a "sporting purpose" clause that is UN-Constitutional, but also makes people think that our firearms are about sport shooting (hunting).

Re: Vote YES to Semi-Auto for Hunting in PA
The question is not whether he will sign it, it's whether he will veto it. If he lets it sit, it still becomes law. A veto has larger ramifications for him.

Then the question will be, will there be enough votes to over ride his veto.

Re: Vote YES to Semi-Auto for Hunting in PA
I think we will based on the fact it took this long because there were amendments added. You can't amend to this iirc

Re: Vote YES to Semi-Auto for Hunting in PA
I've always liked the old Remington Model 8 and Model 81 Woodmasters. Maybe it's time to add another branch to the collection.

Re: Vote YES to Semi-Auto for Hunting in PA
This bill was overwhelmingly passed by both the PA House (160-25) and the PA Senate (40-7). So, if he does not sign the bill an override is a distinct possibility. However, I do not quite know how an override would be scheduled since the two year legislative session is coming to an end. All bills, etc. not passed and signed into law by the end of the session are dead and must be reintroduced and go through the whole process all over again. The state legislature is not back in session until November 14th, and even at that time, they are not scheduling any floor discussions/debates on bills (non-work session days). They are basically have hearings, conferences, etc. Rarely does PA have lame duck legislative sessions between elections and the new legislative session starting in January.
The bill does not automatically allow semi-automatic firearms for hunting in PA. Rather it removes the prohibition of the use of such firearms. It specifically gives the Game Commission the ability to make regulations to allow semi-automatic firearms if it so chooses. Getting the PGC to allow them is probably going to be another fight in and of itself. With all that said, I believe Wolf will sign the bill. I also think the PGC will allow them for birds and small game. I do not think they will allow them for large game (their sacred deer and black bear)...at least not at first.
By the way, if you are interested in contacting the Governor's office to urge him to sign this legislation, here is a link to where you can do it. I did.
