Re: Gunsmith ( If only my dad was still alive! )
Just a note - I miss my late dad (Walter S. Glodzik) so much and reading these posts makes me realize how many people are in need of a good gunsmith. If only Pop was still alive! He had great gunsmith skills and wonderful talent for custom work and repairs... he worked out of his shop (our basement) in Reading, PA, Southern Gun Shop, and was in business from about 1946 until the early '80's. I know some people who have 1 or more of his rifles, and really love the craftsmanship.
If anyone owns a rifle that has his stamp on it ( W S Glodzik, or WSG ), could you please drop me a note about how and where you obtained it? Also, any opinions about his work? I would love to hear from anyone who might have known my father from 'the old days' - the Navy Sea bees in WWII (CBMU 542, 104th NCB) or one of his businesses, Globe Elevator Co. and the gunsmith business...I'm doing some research into his work and trying to put a little biography together.
Thanks to all, and have a happy & safe holiday,
Cathy
