Smith and Wesson 4006
I need your opinion on price for a Smith&Wesson 4006 3rd gen with adjustable rear sight white dot front and back. It looks like it was hardly used. No scratches, shinny sharp bore. It's not priced yet. I have to call LGS tomorrow. What would you pay if you liked 3rd gens? Thanks for any answers.

Re: Smith and Wesson 4006
Love these guns - have several. IMO if in great condition $350-$400 and I'd grab it. Average deal = $425 - $500 at best. I'm sure the adjustable sights adds a bit, I never liked them personally. I've seen them out there with asking prices of $550 plus, but not many sales I see at those prices. Good luck!

Re: Smith and Wesson 4006
A 4006 was one of the first guns I ever bought. If its in nice shape I wouldn't hesitate at $350-400.
Just remember that the adjustable sight models and the fixed sight models "sights" do not interchange. The slides are cut different.www.Steelvalleycasting.com is your new home for coated bullets and custom ammo.

Re: Smith and Wesson 4006
I have one...bought from a PAFOA member this year in new condition (had maybe one or two mags fired through it since new according to original owner).
They're listed on Gunbroker for $400-600 range...just checked a 2015 gun price guide and it's valued right at $500 NIB and $425 in good used condition. Since it's not priced yet, start with an opening offer of $375-400 to get the ball rolling but even if you pay $450 and it's in really good condition, you're not getting a bad deal.
If it looks new and you can get it under $500, you have a great deal on a great gun. You will absolutely love the 4006 and if you see one, grab it. I missed out on a more-used one a LGS for $450 and it took me 5 months of searching, calling and a few lost GB auctions to finally get one into my hands.Last edited by alpacaheat; June 3rd, 2015 at 09:51 AM.

Re: Smith and Wesson 4006
Well it's priced. $559.95 + tax $33.00 + transfer (not sure) so that's $600 or more out the door. I guess they use gunbroker for pricing. I don't know if it has the box or any extras.

Re: Smith and Wesson 4006
A little high so I'd try to knock it down to $500, unless it has a bunch of extra mags for that price.
Even still, it's a solid gun and you would not feel cheated even at that higher price.

Re: Smith and Wesson 4006
I pulled the trigger tonight so to speak. It has three mags the cleaning kit in the plastic with the sight tool and all the papers that came in the box except for the post card registration, that was taken off and I guess mailed in. $559. Cardboard box not the plastic ones. Thanks for all the opinions. I decided one in as good condition might not show up as quick, lots of police trades out there with holster wear and bangs on things.

Great! You won't regret it and you are right, if you see one in good condition, don't pass on it. So many are worn and beaten. Look on Gunbroker, most are not in a condition I'd want to own. Good deal with the number of mags and factory accessories. They all came in cardboard boxes I believe; mine did too.
