S&W M&P Shield in 9mm
I have had a S&W shield in 9mm for about 6 months now. I have shot a least 500 rounds with target ammo. With 115gr. loads it shoots about 6 inches low all the time. Has any one else had this happen to them? Should I get different sights?

Mine shoots 8-12" to the left and 5" low. I can fix the elevation but not the windage, need the site tool.

Re: S&W M&P Shield in 9mm
Just out of curiosity has anyone else fired it with the same results? Out of the 4 shields in the family none of them are that far off. At tops maybe an inch low or so.
I can tell you that the trigger on my brother in laws shield was really gritty due to a burr in the striker safety button bore. A small flex hone took care of the burr and then it shot a lot better after the repair. Also the dime on the front sight trick got him shooting his well.

Re: S&W M&P Shield in 9mm
My last 3 smiths , 2 M&P's and a shield have all been dead on elevation wise.
The shield needed bumped a bit windage wise.
You have NO IDEA how rare that is for me.
I think I used up all my luck on those 3 guns for the rest of my life.
My 40's shoot 165gr and my 9 shoots 124grLast edited by Boondox; June 2nd, 2015 at 05:22 PM.

I have read about this issue before with some of the earlier models not sure if this applies to you guy's. I purchased mine used about about 15 months ago and it's always right on up to 30 yards for me and my wife. I will be changing the sights sooner or later but so far no issues with them the way I got it.

Re: S&W M&P Shield in 9mm
I am one of those who bought the Shield the first week it came out. Mine shot right on, maybe a tad low. I called S&W and they had me ship it, and they replaced the front sight. It is spot on ever since. They even gave me a free magazine just for the trouble.
I have since replaced the sights with Ameriglo night sights.

Our two shields 9mm & 40 both shoot to point of aim ! Could be your sights but before correcting them make sure that your not drifting the gun as you engage your trigger to fire ! JMO/MDT
