Default Renewed my LTCF in Lackawanna County

Well today was the day I was dreading. I had to go the Lackawanna County Courthouse to renew my LTCF. I made my way through the new security checkpoint without a SNAFU. I was not carrying today ( I came from work).
The new Sheriffs Office is quite nice. They had a separate area just for LTCF apps. I was afraid that since fat Eddie was reelected the process would be somehow more complicated. Just the opposite was true. I filled out the app, sat for the pic, paid my $31 and walked out with my new permit in hand.

I noticed a few changes in the license itself. On the first line under "Pennsylvania License To Carry Firearms" in very small letters it says that I can't quite make out, something to the effect " Original applicant, 1st copy PSP 2nd copy issuing authority"

I take that to mean the PSP and Sheriffs Office are keeping a copy. Is that new?

I also notice the License now has a Point of Contact toll-free number 1-877-884-3802. I guess that should help with reciprocity in some states.

It also has a box to check New/ Renew/ Duplicate.

Nowhere on the permit does it say " For the purposes of carrying concealed"
Didn't the old license have that on it somewhere?

In any event my hat is off to the Lackawanna County Sheriffs Office for the fast and courteous service.

Eddie has nothing to do with the license procedure (no authority). Controlling authority is contained in 18PACS§6109
It specifies who and how licenses are issued. Governor is not mentioned

Define new. As in since your last renewal 5yrs ago?... I don't think it's new in that sense.

Not that I have ever heard. That text is contained in 6109 mentioned above though....

If we could just get the rest of them to be as such

The only thing my card says is "Reason to carry" under that it says self defense.

Technical correct, but the rotund one does control the PSP who are directly involved in the running of the PICS system. Shortly after Big Ed's reelection there seemed to be a concerted effort to make things more difficult for gun buyers. Anecdotal evidence seemed to indicate more folks than ever getting delayed or placed into research purgatory.
Mr. Rendell made it known that as a lame duck he would work towards his true anti-gun agenda. There are many ways that a politician and his bureaucracy can inflict their ideals on the masses.
I was expecting something to gum up the works. ( The deputy was on the phone with PICS for a very long time)
I was pleasantly surprised when it never happened.

Huh mine says Self-def/hunt/fish, exactly as I wrote it. Wonder what that is all about?

All I wrote is for self defense, so I could carry all the time no worries. If you write hunting and fishing it then becomes a sportsman's license and can only be used for those activities.

Not correct. An LTCF is an LTCF (unrestricted) regardless what you write in box 28.

A sportsmans license (restricted) is a different application applied for at the county treasurer.

Wrong. A Sportsman's Firearm Permit and a LTCF are two totally seperate and different things. Different application process, different fees, different coverage.

Any LTCF, issued for any reason, is valid for all.
