commander 1911 9mm
Ok, our daughter went rogue and went out and picked up a 1911 commander size in 9mm. Not sure what kind, I know it was around 1800 dollars. Now the wife wants one for plinking at the range. We are a Sig, CZ family, I know nothing of 1911s. I want something accurate. I can get a Kimber pro carry 2 9mm for 750. I keep reading bad things about new Kimbers. SA has the compact officers 1911 9mm which seems pretty good. RIA reviews are all over the place. I am looking for something 800ish or less. The wife doesnt love them but she would like one for occasional range so I dont want to dump too much money into one. Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated.

$1800 for a 9mm 1911? That's nuts

If you think $1800 is nuts, don't look at a Wilson Combat Tactical Supergrade Professional........

Re: commander 1911 9mm
Everyone needs a 1911!
Kimber 1911s are nice, I have one in 9mm myself it's pretty flawless, but since you like Sigs already, get a Sig-Sauer 1911 http://www.sigsauer.com/CatalogProdu...al-models.aspx.
Have fun!I'm faster than Doc Holliday (with Novocaine of course)

Her 1911 is a Dan Wesson Eco. I was wrong on the price, it was 1550. She bought a case of ammo also. I dont even know what it looks like. The wifes will be 800 or less.

Re: commander 1911 9mm
If staying under $1000, a 4" (Commander) 9mm 1911 will probably run best with the widest variety of ammo. The 5" Government slide is a lot to push around for the 9mm, it can become quite the balancing act with a pistol that hasn't seen a lot of hand fitting and polish.
My. $0.02,
YMMV

Re: commander 1911 9mm
For a range plinker, I'd probably go with a RIA. I have a GI model and it has been great. Personally, I'd go with something like this:
http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/p...mbo+-+22TCM9mm
You get a pretty decent 9mm commander and a.22 tcm to play with also.

Re: commander 1911 9mm
I have a couple Kimbers, they're fine. Never understood the Kimber hate.
Para makes (made?) a very nice 4" 1911. Not too expensive.Last edited by johnfritz; May 31st, 2015 at 09:46 AM. Reason: Typo.
