We've just worked out the details for a special guest speaker - Shaneen Allen.

You may remember that Shaneen is the twice-assaulted, Philadelphia mother of two that had recently acquired a defensive firearm and her LTCF and was subsequently arrested and viciously prosecuted for merely taking her pistol into NJ. Despite the unusual confluence of a media spotlight highlighting her unwitting mistake and draconian treatment under NJ law - while a violent celebrity domestic-abuser got off with a "slap on the wrist", eventual probation granted by a chastened prosecutor, and a subsequent pardon by the NJ Govenor, Shaneen is still struggling get her life back on track due to the ongoing effects of her case. (For more information on her story see: http://www.shaneenallen.org/)

Some might argue that Shaneen should have known the law. In a perfect world, they are correct. However, if you are new to firearms, there is no manual available that explains all the legal pitfalls. Firearms law can be confusing even to longtime firearms owners. Shaneen’s case highlights the need for the education of firearms owners, both old and new.

BDB, I thought your email had been replied to, maybe the chain that was forward to me was initiated by someone else.

It is all a mix of a very tight schedule once we got the go ahead, presentation partners (county officials), seating capacity, comfort, presentation support, availability, cost, audience, etc.

We are expecting approximately 300 attendees, so that removes a lot of venues up front. We are running a 1.5 month schedule from the initial OK (and we didn't have date commitments yet from Heckler and Donnelly then.) Cost is also a factor since the seminar is being offered free - so every dollar comes out of our treasury. And, yes, the expected audience is not so much the daily carrier, but people who are new or looking to expand their horizons.

While I don't like it either, and whether the BCCC exclusion of carry is "legal" or not - IANAL and I expect that we can find at least one to argue each side of the issue - I expect that they will enforce their policies.
