Default Magazine for RIA .22 TCM?

I ordered an RIA .22 TCM the other day. I went with a 10-rd single-stack model, rather than the 17-rd option. I have read that the 17-rd magazine is identical to a Para part.

My question: Will any 10-rd 1911 9mm magazine work in this pistol, is some fiddling required, or is it strictly a proprietary part?

    Many thanks,
    --Phil

Hmmm, I think they are proprietary, but not 100% sure. I just ordered another 10 round single stack for mine. Got it from Armscor :

I thought I read on another forum where they take mec gar 38 super magazines and just re profile the one lip on top of the mag with a dremel. I'll have to find that again since I need another few mags for my single stack as well.

That is correct for the double stack - I ordered one by mistake and it was just a mec gar 38 super mag. I wasn't sure about the single stacks ?

It should work with any 1911-9mm mag, as they use the same mag for 9mm and 22TCM. I know they changed the 22TCM round to actually be the same OAL as a 9mm cartridge, so it will feed from existing 9mm mags, like Glock. Being that is the case, 9mm 1911 single stack mags should work.

I have a range officer in 9mm. I'll have to go try to see if it's mags work in the single stack.

I just read this on the 1911 forum

Now I have the answer, as my new TCM arrived yesterday.
The mag issued with it is not like anything I have seen.
It is, however, basically a Super 38 magazine.
To confirm this, I borrowed a buddy's Colt Super 38 mag, which functioned perfectly with the little TCM rounds.
And my Metalform 9s run perfectly too, with 9mm.
Rather than invest in the $$$ unobtanium Armscor mags, I just ordered four of the on-sale MecGar Super 88s on sale at Midway.

This is incorrect. The 22 TCM is longer than the 9mm cartridge. The double stack magazine for the RIA 22 TCM is a modified .38 super Para mag. The single stack version is also a modified .38 super magazine. Standard .38 super mags will work in most cases, however.

RIA created the 22TCM 9R, which is sized to fit in a standard 9mm magazine. There is a conversion kit for the Glock 17 and they plan to offer kits for all other manufacturers over time.
