I had a wheeler multi-tip screwdriver tip bend on a screw.I was wondering what is the make of drivers used by people. Is a simple Klien or Craftsman set the strongest type out there? Is there a better make available? What say you?

Should be hollow ground tips so you have less chance to bung up a screw.

    Klein for normal stuff
    Grace for guns
Those are the best I've found. Like McSull said you need parrellel sides for gun screws not taper.

Industrial suppliers like MSC Direct or McMaster-Carr have anything you want. Best brands I've found are Wiha from Germany and Apex from the USA.

    Greetings,

Brownells gunsmith screwdrivers only for gun work! As mentioned, hollow ground tip. Always use the correct size as to not mess up the screw head.

    Regards, Jim

Properly made gunsmithing screwdriver tips are hollow ground and are made to bend or even break if they are over torqued. This is to protect the firearm as screwdrivers that will not bend or break may slip out of the screw slot and then gouge the metal or wood around the screw. The proper sized tip should completely fill the screw slot to get the proper grip on the screw. When a tip fits correctly, the screw is easy to put in or take out with hardly any chance of buggering up the screw or the gun.
