    Default Glock 19 odd brass

I noticed last week at the range my brass was ejecting like this, should I be alarmed? It looks almost like the chamber isn't fully sealed and powder is leaking back towards the ejection port.

Go head, skin it. Skin that smoke wagon and see what happens.

Do your cases show any excessive bulging?

No excessive bulging. I was shooting over grass so my brass was disappearing so next time I'm on the pistol range I'll collect it all. This is factory ammo btw. It almost looks like the brass isn't expanding maybe.

It seems like it might be a light load issue. Light loads don't have enough pressure to seal the case walls against the chamber.

What brand/weight of ammo are you shooting?

That's what I am thinking too. Are these reloads?

If the brass is significantly blackened on one side repeatedly, the most likely offender is the recoil spring assembly. If your Glock is a gen 1-3, it needs to be replaced every 2500-3000 rounds. Gen 1-3s with a dual recoil spring and Gen 4s need a new one every 5000 rounds.

If this is your issue, what is happening is that the recoil spring took a set and is not strong enough to push the slide into battery long enough for the bullet and the gases to go through the end of the barrel. The barrel unlocks faster, sending the whole upper assembly into recoil faster as well, making that telltale sign on the brass. This happens to 1911s frequently.

Make sure to change out your recoil spring assembly otherwise two more things will be sure to break prematurely, namely the trigger spring and the slide stop spring (which is on the slide stop itself).

I'm an experienced armorer & instructor and work at a range in Philly, so if you'd like, I'd check out your pistol free of charge.

FC is probably Federal; at least that's the headstamp on my Federal 9mm. (Not sure if that's supposed to stand for "Federal Cartridge" or "Federal Champion".)
