Sheesh, and Bond slept with his piece under his pillow. Can't we all just be like Bond?

    See? All bases covered now!
I forgot how much I missed the slang from the 70's and 80's: "Bite me, dig?"

I am very fortunate to have a fantastic Pastor. He Preaches the Word and is very firearm friendly, although he carries a Glock. ( Flamesuit on !!) Several of the church congregation carry. We have a bunch of us ( including our Pastor) that get together periodically and shoot. As others have stated we need to be vigilant and carry everywhere we can, as bad people do bad things in the best of places. Churches are a prime target. I personally feel that as a husband, God has made me protector of my family. I will use the tools available to me to do that, just as in the past it was a sword now it is a pistol. I always have a pistol, spare mag, knife, and flashlight everwhere I go.

I'm a Pastor myself and I keep up to date on the Church around the globe mostly through Voice of the Martyrs. Churches in the Middle East, India, and Africa get sacked by Muslims on a regular basis. It's only a matter of time until it comes to the US. Churches are considered a soft target and radical Islam takes advantage of that. It's par for the course in places like Nigeria that congregations get mowed down by AK-47's. I think it is our dutyas Pastors to encourage firearms in Church.

I have carried in church before, but most time I keep my firearm in the car. When at home and puttering around outside, I usually always have one handy, if my .380 is not in my pocket it is in the car. In the house I have a .38 always ready to go.

I think a lectern would be an excellent place to store a counter-measure to invaders.

The podium is what he stands on, he stands behind a lecturn. A very common mistake made by people. Yes, you could store quite an arsenal inside the lecturn.
Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise

You're right about which is the lectern and which is the podum. But you could store even more of an arsenal inside the podium if it's hollow, as many are. And just think of the quick-access possibilities of the baptistry, if so equipped.
