    Default Lancaster County license process.

So I got a new license to carry today. I had one from 2008 before and wow things have changed.

I got there at 840am there were four people total. We all handed out cash in and got a receipt (they spelled my last name wrong it. But it's correct on the license so I don't care).

On their website it says you need to fill out the instructions card which asks about your local PD and if you ever had one before and if it was ever revoked. I had to check "yes" and wrote why. Because of charges that were later dissolved and expunged. The lady read it and handed it back. But my friend who was with handed his in and they kept it. So I'm not sure what that was about.

They ran everyone at the same time and they announced "you're all approved". So we one by one got our picture taken and we signed the electronic pad. License printed.

In 2008 it was a week wait. So I'm glad it's instant. It used to be a hard credit card style but not like a paper and laminate.

All in all. Easy and quick this time.

In 2000, it was a 10 minute wait, in 2005, it was a 10 minute wait, in 2010 it was a 10 minute wait. It'll probably be the same. Not sure why you had a week delay in 2008. I don't like the idea that they got away from the DL style card though. That one fits nicely in my wallet.

It was the presidential election. Whole line out the door lol.

I would have paid $25 for the thicker older style but oh well.

I wish they'd make them HUGE. Like a 3x5 card or better yet give us gold plated badges and a sash. A big license I could pin to my hat like the old press cards reporters used to wear. I want to be noticed! I want attention!

So what are the new ones? Paper? Cardboard? Laminate?

It's a piece of thicker paper ran through a laminator.
